event Dinant , the Meuse city has been transformed into a magical tableau of lights and colours, plunging its visitors into an enchanted world, with the third edition of 'Dinant Lumière'.
Organized from December 1, 2023 to January 6, 2024, the city owes this nighttime light show to the non-profit organization Dinant Lumière and its various partners. A wonderful way to showcase the historical and cultural heritage of this city on the Meuse River.
The nocturnal splendors of the 2023-2024 edition of Dinant Lumière.
A magical and enchanting event: for more than a month, light festival Dinant illuminated Dinant and transformed the city's main sites into enchanting places.
Thus, in the center of the city, buildings such as the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame, the Town Hall, the Palace of Justice, and the former Benedictine convent were dressed each evening in delightful animated light sails.
Other parts of the city have also been highlighted, from Anseremme to Neffe, via Bouvignes.
In addition to the numerous illuminations, the program also included a series of cultural events, such as a concert by Alice on the Roof at the Dinant Cultural Center and a theatrical performance by the Compagnie du Rocher Bayard. No fewer than four Christmas markets were also held during this period.
In short, there was something to delight every eye and amaze every gaze! And to satisfy every taste and appetite. A variety of shows, with light as the common thread.
In total, more than 50 different activities were offered free of charge throughout this winter period.
The only downside was the weather, which wasn't very promising this year. Even for the final show, the torchlight descent from the Citadel, umbrellas were necessary. The magic would undoubtedly have been enhanced with a few snowflakes. Perhaps at a future event?
Eco-responsibility is now part of the program
It goes without saying that energy has a cost and that lighting involves consuming it.
This year, with a view to respecting the environment, the organizers were keen to adopt an innovative approach, favouring LED lighting as much as possible.
A positive impact on local tourism
Such an event has a positive impact on local tourism, attracting many visitors, despite the less than pleasant weather conditions of December 2023.
Many visitors, impressed by the beauty and originality of the ephemeral light installations, did not fail to share their enthusiastic experiences on social networks.
Local residents also expressed their pride in seeing their city transformed into a veritable light show.
As for Santa Claus, who passed through the city of Copères, there is no doubt that he left with bright stars in his eyes.
