Activities of activities in March 2025: what to do and what to see in Dinant and the surrounding area

The Gîtes Kangourou Dinant notebooks

Meteorological spring is arriving, and with it normally more beautiful days, conducive to outdoor activities.

The tourist season hasn't started yet, but the calendar offers several interesting events. Donat suggests a few outdoor activities.

In particular, don't miss the 9th competition for young saxophonists. A competition that's back, much to the delight of music lovers who are fans of the instrument so dear to Sax.

9th competition for young saxophonists

Dates: March 1-9, 2025

Location: Cultural Center Dinant

Description :

After an absence of several years, the competition for young saxophonists returns, to the great joy of sax lovers… and of course the young enthusiasts of the instrument so precious in Dinant.

The competition takes place at the Dinant Cultural Centre during the first two weekends of March.

A must-see event for saxophone lovers. Especially since all the competitions are free and open to the public, no reservation required. Discover the future virtuosos of tomorrow at this event!

20 km Maredsous – Dinant

Dates: March 9, 2025

Location: Maredsous Abbey (for the start) and Dinant (for the finish)

Description :

A must-do event for joggers! Starting from the splendid setting of Maredous Abbey, run briskly through the Molignée Valley, then head towards Dinant. The organizers promise local folklore and customs to enhance the race.

And let's not forget the fanfare at the finish line!

This race, now in its second year, has been a resounding success: the 2024 event sold out in less than 48 hours. Even if you can't run, you can still cheer on the valiant athletes.

Carnival

Dates: March 16, 2025

Location: Esplanade Ste Elisabeth, near the Dinant

Description :

This carnival may not be as well-known as others in the region and in Wallonia, but why not discover it?

The following have already confirmed their attendance at this event:

– the Giants of Dinant

– the Mougneux of Couches

– the Amis d’Pierrot brass band

– and the Fatras Company

Join them for a procession through the streets of Dinant. The parade will be followed by a children's ball and a snack.

Wearing a costume is (almost) mandatory to participate in the event.

Molignée Run Rail Bike

Dates: March 16, 2025

Location: Sommières

Description :

If you prefer a more sporty activity than the carnival, why not participate in the 22nd edition of Molignée Run Rail Bike.

Another meeting in the beautiful Molignée valley.

The program includes: mountain biking (10 or 20 km) and running (7.5 km).

For this edition, the organizers announce the return of the railbikes to the course!

Dinant via the heights

Dates: March 16, 2025

Location: Dinant (Casino woods, Place d'Armes)

Description :

Rather than following the carnival procession or pushing a railbike, take the paths and trails offered by Terrawallonia to discover hidden vestiges of Dinant's history.

A route of barely 5 km, but nonetheless rugged.

Registration is mandatory via the organizer's website: http://www.terrawallonia.be

See the Explore Meuse agenda

Other events and activities will still take place in February. Like one or two large bonfires, to bury winter.

Other exhibitions too.

If you are staying at Gîtes Kangourou Dinant, do not hesitate to consult theagenda of the Explore Meuse Tourist Office : it is full of suggestions to enhance your stay in the Meuse city.
